The Guardian newspaper on Friday reported that German scientists at the University of Hoehenhiem, Stuttgart had developed a pill which, together with a special diet and strict feeding times reduces the methane gas produced by cows. Methan e gas is a powerful greenhouse gas, and the article reports that it has grown six-fold in rge past 50 years.

Not only does the pill seem good for the planet, it also seems good for the cow since it improves the agricultural production and their wellbeing - on the face of it a great win-win situation. Mind you, the pill is the size of a human fist so might take some swallowing.

I wonder how long it is before we get a similar pill for people ....
