National Survivors of Suicide Day Broadcast
9th February 2009 |
A healing program for survivors of suicide loss. This is a 10-minute clip from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's National Survivors of Suicide Day 2008 broadcast. Individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide talk about their experience and how they have coped. Mental health profesionals provide educational information on suicide and bereavement after suicide loss.
If you have lost a loved one to suicide, this program is for you. National Survivors of Suicide Day was created by U.S. Senate resolution, through the efforts of Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, who lost his father to suicide. Every year, AFSP sponsors an event to provide an opportunity for survivors of suicide loss to come together for support, healing, information and empowerment. This is a 10-minute clip from AFSP's full 90-minute filmed program, which features a question-and-answer panel with "seasoned" survivors and mental health professionals. Click here to view the clip.
