Young disabled members and volunteers at HAFAD reveal the obstacles they still come up against. Kimme tells us how, after gaining employment as a local youth worker he was told he would only be paid as a general assistant. Esme Young, a worker at HAFAD, says; “they have aspirations, they don’t just want to learn the basics.” This first-hand report presents fresh insights and testimony to the aspirations of young people with disabilities who want opportunities and equal treatment not pity and platitudes.
