UN Sec. General Warns Climate Denying Lobbyists
The UN Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki Moon, spoke bluntly to the business leaders at the World Business Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen about the danger posed by corporations lobbying against urgent measures to tackle climate breakdown.
He said: "For those people who are lobbying against climate change, your ideas are out of date, and we are running out of time. What the fence-sitters and sceptics fail to understand is that climate change fundamentally changes 21st century dimensions. Sooner or later there will be a higher price for carbon, enforced either by policy or by market forces, and any multinational business that does not have a strategy in place to deal with climate change will end up on the losing side of history."
