Holy Forests - Climate Change
22nd June 2009 |
Following its successful series of short films on the human cost of climate change in Africa, IRIN Films in association with UNEP is pleased to announce the launch of the first series of new short films on climate change in Asia.
The Prey Koki Forest in Svay Rieng Province was severely degraded during Cambodia’s years of conflict, after which surrounding villages were impoverished and demoralized. In 1994, monks from Santi Sena, a local Buddhist organization, began working with local people to regenerate the forest.
The film focuses on the reforestation activities and environmental education of Prey Koki Forest by the Monks to guard against the impact of climate change.
