Just Add Water
29th July 2009 |
Drought. Torrential rain. Extreme storms. These are the harsh realities - made worse by climate change - that poor people around the world are already struggling to cope with. For these people, climate change means water change.
For the 70% of the world's poor who depend on small-scale farming for food, changes in rain and weather mean the crops they rely on are being put at risk. The world will meet to discuss a new climate change deal in Copenhagen in 2009, but as we scramble to stop the causes of climate change, dealing with its effects must not take second place.
For the sake of the world's poor, we need to JUST ADD WATER.
In the scramble to stop the causes of climate change, world leaders risk forgetting a vital ingredient: water. Climate change is already happening, and the world's poorest people are feeling the brunt of the effects.
Tell the UK government we cannot forget about water as we struggle to cope with our changing climate.
