Carbon footprinting for off-grid power systems?
I need to know the breakdown of carbon counting: How much carbon does one gallon of gasoline emit? One gallon of propane? Then I can calculate my actual footprint because our household does not fit into any of the rubrics set up on line for carbon calculations.
We live in a funky cabin in northern California, we burn wood for wintertime heating, use propane for water heating, cooking, and heating a very badly insulated detached bedroom, and for the clothes dryer.
Our gasoline generator is used seasonally and periodically to keep our off-grid battery bank fully charged when the photovoltaic array cannot.
We live ten miles outside of town and make daily or twice daily car trips to run the kids to school and do errands.
One of our vehicles, used for a long commute, runs on biodesiel.
Does anyone have a suggestion for me?
