I am a reason!
28th September 2009 |
Life as we know it hangs in the balance – but our climate change negotiators are faltering. How can we inspire them to act with courage?
Long streams of words won’t work: they know all the arguments already.
A global chorus of images and music, welling up spontaneously from millions of people around the world will show them that we are standing before them -
> demonstrating our commitment to protecting life on earth
> giving them the heart to make brave, hard decisions
> willing them to act fearlessly on our behalf.
Six Billion Reasons is an invitation to everyone, everywhere, to join this global chorus. You don’t need to be able to draw. You don’t need to be able to sing. You just need to care, and be willing to stand up and say ‘I am a reason’.
Together we will be creating an unmissable statement of our collective intent as humankind to protect life on earth.
Here’s how;
Step 1: make or choose your image or video
Step 2: upload it
Step 3: tag it with ‘Iamareason’
that’s it! …. in detail this means;
Step 1 – choose whichever suits you best, either get creative & use your inspiration to make a new image/video, or choose an image or video you already have (make sure you have permission or copyright).
Step 2 – upload your image to flickr www.flickr.com - it is very simple to register and upload but if you have never used it before there is a ‘tour’ here http://www.flickr.com/tour/ You can upload from your mobile phone too – see http://www.flickr.com/tools/mobile/. We will add more ways to upload beyond this pilot stage.
Step 3 – When you upload pictures to flickr it asks you for a title and a ‘tag’ for the image. Just make sure you tag the image with ‘Iamareason’ & we will do the rest.
Your image will become part of the global chorus, in the form of an amazing work of art.
