Hy-bon is the global leader in the capture of vent methane gas from storage tanks, with thousands of successful applications across the globe. This high BTU gas stream is also high in VOC’s – and is one of the most potent greenhouse gases with 23 times the impact of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Hy-bon is also a U.S. leader in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas capture & recovery.

Oil and Strorage Tank Vapor Recovery and Field Gas Gathering - One of the largest sources of methane emissions in the Oil & Gas Industry is the flaring and venting of Associated Gas from Oil Production Facilities. Two of the largest contributors are 1) Storage Tank Gas Venting at 26.6 Bcf per year - 2) Well Venting and Flaring at 18 Bcf per year.

Methane gas emissions are lost from storage tanks at a rate of approx 26.6 Bcf per year in the United States alone.
Flash Losses - occur when crude is trasnferred from containment at a high pressure to containment at a lower pressure
Working Losses - occur when crude levels change and when crude in the storage tank is agitated
Standing Losses - occur with daily and seasonal pressure and temperature changes

Vapor Recovery Units (VRU) - One of the Best Management Practices in the STAR program is the utilization of vapor recovery units (VRU's) to capture these methane gas emissions. Benefits of vapor recovery unit (VRU) utilization include:
1) Capture up to 95% of hydrocarbon vapors being vented from storage tanks
2) Recovered vapors have higher Btu content than pipeline quality natural gas
3) Recovered vapors are more valuable than natural gas and have multiple uses, including condensate recovery

Why vent dollars (profits) to the atmosphere - an average oilfield stock tank emits significant quatities of methane gas 24/7
