Europe not sidelined at Copenhagen Summit by China and other emerging economies, says Connie Hedegaard
There had been rumours of some European leaders being ruffled by events that took place on the chaotic final day at the UNFCCC summit in Copenhagen in December 2009. For example, it has been widely reported that President Barack Obama came upon a meeting being held by the the BASIC group of emerging economies - Brazil, South Africa, India and China - which he then joined; but the meeting thus still excluded leaders from Europe.
in response to a question from Tan Copsey of 'China Dialogue', Connie Hedegaard, the new European Commissioner for Climate Action, spoke about the EU's relationship with the BASIC group now. Here's Copsey report on this and other points raised by the Commissioner in London yesterday.
